If you’re looking for a cheap vacuum cleaner with a lot of functionality that has really impressed a lot of reviewers, then you need look no further than the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe (NV360). My review covers everything, from suction power to bin capacity.
This Shark vacuum cleaner comes with “no loss suction technology” which means that the room doesn’t get all dusty while you’re vacuuming, all of that dust and gunk is sucked into the vacuum cleaner instead of just stirred around. This model also has a variable suction setting which allows you to strengthen or weaken your vacuuming depending on your needs.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe (NV360) runs off mains power and has a cord that is 25 feet long, this should be more than long enough to be able to comfortably vacuum any room. The whole vacuum cleaner is only 15 x 11.4 x 45.5 inches and ways as little as 16 pounds. So you will easily be able to store the vacuum and lift it around as needed.
The bin capacity of the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe (NV360) is quite large and capable of generally cleaning an entire house before needing to be emptied, unless you have a teenager in the house; in that case no bin capacity is large enough.
The high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration system on this vacuum cleaner is of the high efficiency that you would expect from the Shark brand. Unlike other filtration systems that act more like a sieve, the HEPA system uses impact, interception, and diffusion to collect more dust than your average system. This kind of filtration system is vastly superior to the old cloth systems and results in more efficient air filtration. Combining this with the no loss suction technology means that you don’t have to do stand in a dusty room while you’re vacuuming.
Shark recommends that you clean the dust cup before each use, and any time that it appears to be full, to ensure the best performance out of their vacuum cleaner. The HEPA filters are also cleanable, as are the floor brush, pet brush, and pre-motor filters. These filters all need to be cleaned much more periodically; whenever you see a performance drop.
For such a cheap vacuum cleaner it comes with an impressive five years of warranty. I’m sure that will dissuade any talk of the durability not being up to the task, however, we will get to those comments further on.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe (NV360) comes with a lot of accessories. A pet power brush that helps lift even the most stubborn pet hairs from the carpet, this tool is easy to clean so you can keep using the tool at maximum efficiency. A crevice tool that helps you to clean those tricky areas with an angle or tight space that a normal vacuum head couldn’t reach. A dusting brush that helps you vacuum delicate surfaces like sheets or curtains, although Shark recommends using a lower suction power when vacuuming furniture to reduce the risk of damage. And an under appliance wand to help you get the to those hard to reach places. The under appliance wand is a great addition, and not usually found with the vacuum cleaners of this price.
There are two special features worthy of note on this amazing vacuum cleaner that I’m sure you want to hear about. The portable lift away function allows you to separate the canister from the floor nozzle. This allows you to get into all those little cracks and crevices that you otherwise would never be able to reach. This portable function makes the vacuum cleaner a lot more varied and versatile. It means that you can clean high off the floor with this vacuum cleaner as well as getting good suction on the ground as well. The second special feature of note is the switch which moves the brush roll on the floor nozzle up and down. This is a tiny feature that seems like it should be common in all vacuum cleaners but isn’t. All of the reviews have said that this feature is a positive addition to the vacuum cleaner.
You can also order spare parts if you need them. The HEPA filters, pre-motor filters, dust brush and crevice tool, under appliance tool, and pet power brush are all available for sale separately from Shark. It is great to know that if you accidentally lose a useful part, or perhaps it breaks through overuse, then you will still be able to use your vacuum cleaner. So many other vacuum cleaner brands don’t offer this service and it can mean losing one small part means you lose functionality, or in the case of filters, you need to purchase an entire new vacuum cleaner.
Pros and Cons
When I was investigating this vacuum cleaner I looked at a lot of reviews and I found pros and cons that were fairly common amongst them. Most positive reviews mentioned the impressive suction and the awesome brush roll function that makes this vacuum cleaner a great little package. The negative reviews focused mainly on the short chord, many people believe that 25 feet is not long enough and would have preferred a longer chord, and several people had issues with the model breaking down having only owned it for a few months. Luckily for those people though, it does come with a five year warranty so they were able to get a replacement; but it is a hassle to replace the vacuum cleaner even when it is under warranty.
None of the complaints are deal breaking, you can always use an extension cord if you need to, and the number of people who had issues with the durability were quite low and that complaint is mitigated by the fact that such a long warranty is offered.
You can find the unit on sale here.
In my mind for such a cheap vacuum cleaner the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe (NV360) is a tidy little package that packs away well and is very versatile. As far as vacuum cleaners go you couldn’t find many vacuum cleaners this cheap with as many capabilities or as good a performance. This is one of Shark’s cheaper models and you get a lot more than you expect for what you pay.
